FAQs
We are always on the lookout for people who are interested in taking part in paid market research by giving their opinions on new products and services via techniques such as online focus groups, interviews and online communities.
Below you will find a useful FAQ section for any questions you may have:
Viewpoint, an independent market research company was founded over 30 years ago. As one of the longest running fieldwork agencies with a trusted reputation, companies and brands ask Viewpoint to arrange research sessions so they can engage with their customers, gathering valuable feedback and insights. We must be doing something right – clients come back to us repeatedly! And our participants recommend us!
People are Very Important! The household brands we all use need to get the opinions of customers and potential customers – this might be to check out perceptions of a new idea for a product, service, or advert; to check out how a new app is working; to taste new flavours; and many other things.
VIPeople is an exciting new market research panel which gives people the opportunity to be invited to take part in paid qualitative research studies.
Our clients ask us to find people who fit certain criteria and are keen to take part in their studies so this panel is a community of like-minded folk who would enjoy doing so. We get in touch to encourage panellists to complete a short screening survey for projects they would be available for. This would usually be by email but occasionally we might phone or text for opt-ins and in future may have a ‘jobs board’ for panellists to view available studies in one place.
For example, we might ask for participants for a 1 hour online interview via Zoom or similar and offer £50-£60 for doing so. We recruit face to face and online focus groups for £60-£100; online communities, with a few online tasks over a number of days, with incentives offered in line with the amount of input needed. The studies are usually fun and interesting – there are no right or wrong answers!
Complete this short survey to tell us about yourself.
This is an initial survey to get you on board and ask a few key questions that will help guide us as to which studies would be relevant to invite you to.
Once on the panel you can expect to receive emails with new research opportunities which will usually have a separate screening survey to fill in.
After this screening survey has been completed, we’ll get in touch, usually by phone, to have a quick conversation and recap responses, and invite participants to engage in the study.
We won’t be able to use everyone, and people will be limited as to how often they can take part, so if you don’t get selected it might be because we’re over-subscribed for that study, or you don’t fit the criteria. We won’t usually be able to get back to everyone who completes a survey to tell them they’ve been unsuccessful so if you hear nothing, do keep trying.
Yes!
So long as you are 16+ years old, live in the UK, and are comfortable and confident sharing honest opinions in front of people you do not already know.
You do not need to be an expert or have specialist knowledge, just be keen to hear the views of others while sharing your own.
Every research project is different. Different criteria, approaches, payment scales.
We make sure to set out each project requirement from the get go. The approach, face-to-face or online, how long the research will last, the estimated time contribution and the thank you payment (incentive) you can expect. So you should know exactly what you are singing up to from the start!
We ask that you commit yourself to the task, giving it your best shot. Give your full attention, contribute as and when you are asked to, be open and honest with your views and opinions.
Please turn up to sessions on time and prepared.
If in person sessions at a venue, check your travel arrangements, allowing enough time to get there. Bring photo ID.
If online, make sure you are joining on the correct device (we tell you what is required) from a quiet location with a good internet connection. Run through any technical checks in advance to help sessions run smoothly on the day.
Clients often like sessions to be filmed / recorded, if this is the case we will tell you at the sign up stage and advise you where the recordings will end up!
The research itself will be led by a researcher from our client company and will make participants feel at ease, make sure everyone gets their view heard, and keep the conversation on track while getting the answers they need for their study.
We usually pay incentives by bacs transfer and this would usually be 1-2 weeks following completion of the study. Sometimes vouchers may be offered instead but the incentive will always be clear at the opt in stage of the study.
The panel operates, of course, within GDPR and your data will be stored securely. Viewpoint, which runs VIPeople, is a Company Partner of the Market Research Society and adheres to its code of conduct. Our privacy policy can be found here https://vipeople.co.uk/terms-privacy/
